“The Slave’s Tale”

This watercolor on illustration board is the interpretation of professional illustrator Joseph Bolden of a slave sale in Guinea as told in “Candide”. Vibrant color, good definition and the story is told in the image, as all good illustrations should. Clearly signed lower right  Joseph Bolden. Born in 1902, he was active as a an illustrator in Philadelphia.

He died in 1972
